  April 24, 2005

After I unloaded at Tampa, Florida, I reloaded the next day at Auburndale, Florida. The trucking company's main corporate office happens to be located there, so I stopped by and had them see if they could fix the problem with the hot water occasionally streaming in to the heater core even though the heat control on the dash was turned to the "cold" setting. They did some work on it and found a freon leak in the air conditioner that they also fixed. The problem still hasn't gone away completely, but it's much better than it was before.

I'm currently at Pacific, Missouri, a far western suburb of St. Louis, Missouri along I-44. I unload here early tomorrow (Monday) morning. I don't know where I'll be going to after that -- I won't know till sometime tomorrow.

  April 21, 2005...
I reloaded at Montgomery City, Missouri with a three drop load that came to the Tampa, Florida area. I'm currently spending the night here and am set to reload tomorrow morning at Auburndale, Florida.

My truck's air conditioner isn't working right all the time. Actually, the air conditioner itself is working fine. The problem I'm having is that the I can't shut the hot water for the heater off and it periodically is allowed to circulate in the heater core in the dash, resulting in fairly intense heat coming out of the dash vents. Fortunately, the sleeper air conditioner is blowing completely cold air, so while I'm sitting here in the sleeper I'm quite comfortable.

I've been recording a lot of audio MP3 podcasts lately. My regular trucker podcast is available at http://truckerphoto.blogspot.com and the new Tattoo Podcast is available at http://themarked.blogspot.com. The "How to Become A Truck Driver" segments I've been doing in my regular podcast have been generating a lot of positive email response. Those segments have been split out and are now posted on http://www.truckflix.com in their "podcast" section.

  April 16, 2005...

I came back to work on April 13th. I had a hard time getting back to work, but now that I'm back things are going good. I ended up changing trucks again. This time I've got a red Freightliner condo. I think it's likely I'll keep it since it seems to run good.

When I got to work on the 13th, I discovered they hadn't changed the tires out yet even though I talked to the tire man on the 12th and he said he'd get right on it.. The tire man came up with the excuse that he was busy with a bunch of work they threw at him. After I got the "trade in" tires changed out, next I went through a bit of a nightmare trying to find an empty trailer.

Once I got an empty trailer, I took it to Russellville, Arkansas and got loaded with a load going to Denver, Pennsylvania. I unloaded in Denver, PA early Friday morning.

Right now I'm at Stuarts Draft, Virginia where I've hooked on to a load that delivers to Edwardsville, Illinois, which is metro St. Louis, Missouri. I'll likely get there sometime on Sunday.

I just got the "Tattoo Podcast" up and running. It's available to listen to at http://themarked.blogspot.com. It's going to be interesting to see how much interest it generates.

  April 4, 2005...

I made it home Friday for a few days off. My parents drove up from Hot Springs and so far I've spent most of my time with them either here at my house or meeting other relatives to eat out.

I think I'm finally over the food poisoning. After the diarrhea kept hanging on, I took my Mom's advice and started taking some Erythromycin to help clear it out. The diarrhea stopped yesterday.

I am due to go back to work on Wednesday, provided that the truck gets fixed. The shop seemed relatively certain that the remaining water loss problem in the cooling system was likely due to a leaking head gasket. It seems that this has been a common problem for them in the batch of used trucks they just purchased. The truck's sat for about a year and half so that might have something to do with it -- who knows.

I've been in contact with Terry at http://www.truckflix.com/ which is a premier driver recruiting website. TruckFlix.Com will be hosting the "How To Become A Truck Driver" series of podcasts I'm recording. I'll be posting the link to it once it's up.
